After six years of counseling adults, families, adolescents and children, Amberlin received her Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) license from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. She has a background in psychology, with a Master of Arts from John F. Kennedy University, and graduated cum laude from Carleton College in Minnesota. She has lectured and taught courses in working with children and adolescents, teenage pregnancy prevention and narrative therapy for various organizations and universities, including San Jose State, John F. Kennedy University and Planned Parenthood.

Amberlin enjoys working with a diverse clientele, with a particular interest in children, teens and young adults. Her relaxed and casual style seems particularly supportive of these populations in having meaningful and generative conversations. Having grown up as a first generation American, Amberlin pays close attention to issues of culture and the gap that lies between immigrant parents and their American-born children. Together with the client’s family, she is committed to young people having meaningful and successful lives.
